
SUSANVILLE — U.S. Forest Service firefighters have contained a number of fires sparked by lightning strikes Tuesday within the Lassen and Plumas nationwide forests.
In Lassen Nationwide Forest, one fireplace measured one tenth of an acre within the Thousand Lakes Wilderness and one other fireplace measured eight acres close to the Philbrook Reservoir.
The eight-acre fireplace, designated because the L-1 fireplace, started Tuesday night and assets from the forest service and Cal Hearth-Butte County responded to the hearth.
Each of those fires are 100% contained and the primary has been managed, the forest service stated.
Firefighters are working by means of Wednesday to observe the L-1 fireplace.
In Plumas Nationwide Forest, firefighters responded to 3 lightning fires together with two that measured one tenth acre close to Gibsonville Ridge and close to Lookout Rock. Each have since been contained, in keeping with a launch.
The third Plumas fireplace is contained at about half an acre, which started from a lightning strike to a cedar tree mid-slope the Keddie Ridge, the discharge stated. Firefighters have been reported working to mop up the remainder of the hearth Wednesday morning.
The forest service stated extra lightning is anticipated later within the week and that firefighters are ready to reply.
“Lightning fires can maintain over for greater than two weeks after a lightning strike, sometimes changing into seen as situations dry out,” the discharge stated.
