Melanie Caligiuri, 46, of Patterson, died at San Joaquin Normal Hospital, in French Camp, the San Joaquin County coroner’s workplace introduced Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Per week earlier, on Oct. 10, Caligiuri was driving along with her 5-year-old daughter when their SUV went off Airport Manner and into the river southeast of Tracy. She climbed out and was holding the woman on high of the sinking automobile when a person who had witnessed the crash went into the river to assist them.
The person took the kid to the shore, then went again for the motive force; they each disappeared beneath the water.
