Coronel was sentenced to a few years in jail in November 2021 after pleading responsible to drug trafficking and cash laundering fees associated to her husband’s narcotics empire. Her sentence additionally included 4 years of supervised launch and a forfeiture of $1.5 million.
“For privateness, security, and safety causes, we don’t elaborate on particular launch plans,” a spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons informed CNN.
Coronel was being held at a Residential Reentry Administration facility in Lengthy Seashore, California, in line with the jail bureau’s inmate locator.
Throughout her sentencing, Coronel, a twin US-Mexican citizen, expressed deep regret for her involvement with Guzman and the Sinaloa Cartel and the hurt she could have precipitated.
Guzman, who twice escaped from jail in Mexico, is serving a life sentence at Colorado’s Supermax jail after he was convicted in 2019 of partaking in a prison enterprise, drug trafficking and firearms fees.
Prosecutors referred to as him a “ruthless and bloodthirsty chief” of the Sinaloa cartel.
Members of the cartel, which remains to be in operation, had been sanctioned by the Biden administration in February for his or her involvement within the unlawful and lethal fentanyl and methamphetamine commerce, US officers mentioned.
