OAKLAND — A Bay Space man has been sentenced to fifteen years in state jail for killing a person throughout a confrontation at a neighborhood gasoline station, courtroom data present.

Brian LeGrand Jr., 37, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter within the March 25, 2021 taking pictures dying of 29-year-old Derrick Glenn. LeGrand was recognized as a suspect after an nameless tipster instructed police LeGrand blamed Glenn for the drug overdose dying of a relative.

Video surveillance of the taking pictures confirmed a person with a tattoo on his neck pulling a gun and taking pictures Glenn after the 2 spoke for about quarter-hour. Police say they matched the neck tattoo from the video to LeGrand.

At LeGrand’s August preliminary listening to, the protection argued video confirmed Glenn had a gun subsequent to him as he sat in his automobile, and that he should have made a transfer for the weapon simply earlier than LeGrand produced his personal pistol and fired.

LeGrand entered his no contest plea in July, and was sentenced Aug. 16. He was transferred to North Kern State Jail, a classification facility, on Sept. 1, data present.
